This year you will learn many new French vocabulary & grammar concepts as well as discover different francophone countries and cultures. While studying this wonderful language you will develop your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through weekly exercises.

What is expected from me:
Outside of class:
-you must check you email FirstClass daily for course updates or changes in the syllabus. If I sent you something and you did not read your email you will be responsible for the missed work -We will be using http://mbsfrancais2.wikispaces.com/ ( our class WIKI)
-We will be using a Conference Folder on FirstClass where many audio and documents will be stored
- http://quizlet.com/ ( virtual flashcards), leconjugueur ( verb charts), www.conjuguemos.com (verb conjuguation exercises website) are websites that we will use often.
iPad
Please make an APP folder on your iPad and label it FRENCH. Within this folder you should have:
LAROUSSE French-English dictionary
Quizlet website, Leconjugueur, Conjuguemos (To add these websites to your FRENCH folder you have to transfer them to your homepage. Follow directions below)
When you are on the website on your iPad-->Press the action button then make the website an app on your home screen (image)
In Class:
-Please bring all of your materials (mentioned above) to class. Failure to do so will affect your participation grade
- Talk as much as possible- in French of course! We all make mistakes, including the teacher, but speaking is the only way one can master a language, so don’t be shy!!
- We all have our bad days, but we must be respectful of others at all times.
- It is important that you fully complete homework assignments. If there is a question on the assignment that you do not understand, ask a friend to explain it or contact me via email the night before. Homework assignments that are not fully completed will be considered as incomplete and you will be given partial credit.
What happens if I miss a class?
- Homework/ Assignments: You are still responsible for the homework due for the class(es) you missed and the homework due for the next class. Consult the FirstClass/ WIKI site for homework assignments or email me.
- Tests/Quizzes: If you missed a test or quiz be prepared to do these assignments the next 1-2 days after you get back (or if you know you are going to miss a test/quiz do it ahead of time!). It will be yourresponsibility to seek me out the day you get back to set up a time outside of class to take the test/quiz.

What happens if my assignments (projects, papers etc.) is late?
-each day (not class day) an assignment is late your grade will diminish by 10 points. Please don’t let this happen.
How will I be graded?
Your grades will be counted on a point system.
Categories
Participation: in-class conduct, participation includes speaking in French, working well with groups, participating in class discussions and dailyorganization (bring your books to class as well as a pen or pencil)
Homework:to be fully completed daily. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but I want to see that you worked at doing the exercises. 3 pts=if fully completed
1.5 pts= if half done or late by one day (not class)
0 pts= if not done at all and not handed in the next class day
There will also be graded homework assignments interspersed throughout the year and will be weighed more heavily than weekly homework. I will not announce which homework assignments will be collected ahead of time so do them all as if I were to collect them.
Assessments:This included quizzes & test (listening, speaking and writing). Writing assignments and project will also be included in the assessment category.
FINAL EXAM will be worth 20% of the Semester 2 grade.
